The CONTINUING NEWS FLASH-- SY 2007-2008:

-a continued shortage of qualified teachers, classrooms, and other educational facilities.

-a question of the collection of miscellanous fees from students in the PUBLIC educational sector.

-the continuing rise of tuition fees in PRIVATE schools, and even in the state university.

-the continuation of the publication of erroneous textbooks.

This page, as of now, under construction, is meant to encourage awareness among the Filipino youth of the realities of education in the country. Hopefully, this awareness will translate to action, which I hope to hear about in the guestbook.

This site will be regularly updated with statistics, news headings, etc. as they come.

CHECKLIST: The goals of Philippine education, according to the 1987 Constitution:

* inculcate patriotism and nationalism

* foster love of humanity

* respect for human rights

* appreciaton of the role of national heroes in the historical development of the country

* teach the rights and duties of citizenship

* strengthen ethical and spiritual values

* develop moral character and personal discipline

* encourage critical and creative thinking

* broaden scientific and technological knowledge

* promote vocational efficiency
